Magic Online is updated on an ongoing basis. Updates to the program happen automatically before you log on to Magic Online. You don't need to do anything to download an update, but you will have to wait while the program data downloads to your computer. The amount of time it takes to download an update will vary depending on your connection speed and the Internet "weather," but it could take several minutes.

The servers will be down for a short time during update periods. You won't be able to log on to Magic Online while the server is offline. If you have problems logging on to Magic Online, you can refer to the Magic Online website to check the status of the servers. You can also check your Internet connection or try again in a few minutes.

Release notes for updates will be posted to the Magic Online website so you can see exactly what changes have been made to the program.

Updates fall into three categories:

Critical updates
Fixing bugs that would prevent you from playing Magic Online is a top priority. These bugs are fixed as soon as possible.

Periodic updates
Monthly updates will fix minor bugs and handle any necessary maintenance. The periodic updates will also include any upgrades to the software on your computer, such as new features and enhancements of current features.

New card sets
As new Magic card sets are released, Magic Online will be updated so you'll be able to play with the new cards. Magic card sets are released about every three months.
